Expressed in decibels, Attenuation measures the decrease in magnitude of a signal as it travels through any transmitting medium, such as a cable or circuitry.
In more simple terms Attenuation is sometimes discussed in relation to distance from the exchange, the farthest having a higher decrease in magnitude and therefore a higher Line Attenuation.
Line Attenuation below 20dB is generally considered exemplary, decreasing in value up to a maximum somewhere in the region approaching 60dB.
In summary, a lower Line Attenuation is more desirable for the purpose of delivering broadband to your premises.
